There are three primary ways to add insulation to a home when siding is installed.
How to insulate a hole in the siding.
Look under the siding at the area meeting the foundation of your home for holes and gaps.
Seal the hole from the inside as well.
Find the entrances mice use to enter your home.

2 thread the blower hose into the first hole and point the nozzle down deep into the wall cavity.
You can blow spray foam or cellulose into the walls from outside.

Seal the gap between the bottom plate of the wall and the floor with acoustical sealant or caulk.
You may need to tape the rubber to the siding temporarily until the caulk dries.
Crawl around the exterior of your home and use a flashlight to find cracks holes and gaps.
The exterior wood siding is currently covered with a styrofoam board and then aluminum siding though our intention is to remove that in the future and repair restore the wood siding.
Add flat rigid insulation to the wall before the siding is installed.
Let the caulk dry overnight then partially fill the boot with foam.
How to seal siding to keep out mice.
Press the poly into the sealant.
We re removing the interiors walls and are looking at the back of the exterior wood siding.
Install insulated vinyl siding.
Shape the putty roughly to conform to the contours of the siding around it using a putty knife.
Spray the powder in the opening of the siding.
Make sure to cover all the points using the marks you used as a reminder.
Use special airtight electrical boxes see photo tip 5 or seal the poly to the electrical box with acoustical sealant.
When the bees are sleeping squirt the powdered insecticide from the bottle at the entrance and exit points on the siding.
Check around windows or vents and examine the perimeter looking for tiny gaps or holes.
Buy unfaced friction fit batts and seal the walls with a 4 mil poly vapor retarder.
Once air leaks have been addressed you can add insulation.
Repeat this step between each pair of studs.
Blow insulation into the cavity.
With a hole saw cut a small hole between 2 and 3 inches wide between two studs and near the top of the wall and place the cut portion aside you will reattach this later.
Just cut a 1 inch to 2 inch hole between the studs at the top of the wall and then spray the insulation into the hole using a hose.
If you use a pastelike product you may have to wait five minutes after applying it to give it time.
