Every 5 inches make a new mark until you get to the rop of the roof.
Use the chalk line to snap a straight line vertically every 6 inches.
Measure the bottom piece of siding to the proper length which is the length of the wall to the roof line minus 2 inches.
Use the chalk line to snap a straight line vertically every 6 inches.
Use your chalk and tape measure to mark about 12 inches up on the roof for the first set of shingles.
So if the pitch of your roof is 7 12 place one stair gauge on the vertical part of the framing square the tongue at the 7 inches 18 cm mark and place one stair gauge on the horizontal part of the framing square the body at the 12 inches 30 cm mark.
